Today, 75% of the trips to Ilha Grand from Rio de Janeiro goes through Conceicao de Jacarei, 10% goes through Angra dos Reis and just under 5% goes from Mangaratiba.
From Conceicao de Jacarei to Ilha Grande there are many different boats and speedboats. The speedboats takes about 20-25 minutes and depart at 08.00, 11.00, 13.00, 15.30 and 17.30.
From Mangaratiba there is only one boat a day at 08.00 in the morning and you have to go from from Rio de Janeiro by bus at 5:00. Going through Angra dos Reis by bus from Rio de Janeiro is an hour longer route. From Angra dos Reis it takes 1.5 hours by boat.
